We have brought you great music, beautiful poetry and downright outrageous stories; now we bring to your attention an inspirational movie – The Bicycle Thief. Written by Sanelle Sibanda and David A. Chodack, the movie is about the struggles of a poor young boy from a remote African village, and the journey to the change of his life. Deserted by his father when he goes away to work, orphaned when his mother dies of AIDS, and forced to live with his mean and poor subsistence farmer uncle, Zola’s life takes a dramatic turn when he auditions for a dance competition.
Shot in America and Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls, Harare and Bulawayo), the film stars actors Ronald Sigenca, Nomvelo Khoza, Prince Zulu, Patrick Mabhena, Nontokozo Khoza, Josphat Ndlovu, Evangelist Shoniwa and Sibongile Dube. Also catch a glimpse of Zimlink’s own Kudakwashe Takundwa, who was also the film’s production assistant.
